California Trinity University(CTU)'s early form began as a school of acupuncture and oriental medicine in May 1994. In the Fall of the same year, CTU earned an approval as a degree-granting institution from the Bureau for Private Postsecondary and Vocational Education (BPPVE), an agency that regulates all private postsecondary institutions in the State of California, and began its first class. CTU was likewise approved to operate by the California Acupuncture Board, the body regulating the licensure and practice of Acupuncture and Traditional Oriental Medicine in the State of California.
In 2007, Kevin K. Choe, MBA, Ph.D., came aboard as CTU President. Having degrees in both Chiropractic and Oriental Medicine, Dr. Choe has carried on the tradition of the integrative approach to bring a multi-disciplinary background to the presidency. Dr. Choe is clear about his intention to establish a university that would allow the values of Traditional Oriental Medicine to synergize with those of Traditional Western Medicine, and thus create wider, standardized treatment options for health care providers in this country. CTU's School of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine programs therefore emphasize sound knowledge of Western medical science to enable its students and graduates to interface with other healthcare practitioners that are solely trained in Western medical disciplines.
In Spring, 2008, CTU expanded beyond School of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine adding five more schools: School of Theology, School of Criminal Justice, School of Language, School of Alternative Medicine, School of Martial Art, etc. The expansion is attributed to President Choe, who believes in constant move toward betterment and who believes in immediate response to what society needs. CTU is still in a move to add even more disciplines that it believes society might need. |
